Masala Dal with Bitter Gourd

Ingredients:

½ cup split Bengal gram
½ bottle gourd, chopped
A pinch of turmeric powder
2 tomatoes, chopped
2 Green chilies, chopped
5 tsp tamarind pulp

Seasoning:

1 cup onion, chopped
½ tsp ginger paste
½ tsp cumin seeds
½ tsp garam masala powder
¼ tsp sugar3 tsp oil
Salt to taste
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves

Direction:

In a pan heat 1 tsp oil and lightly fry the dal, and boil with adding turmeric powder, green chilies tomatoes, bottle gourd, into the same unit and place on low heat. After boiling make a smooth paste. Add water, turmeric pulp and salt .Simmer till the water begins to gently bubble, Remove from heat and add the seasoning. For the seasoning heat pan with oil and add cumin seeds, red chilies, curry leaves, onions chopped, ginger paste, sugar, garam masala and salt. Fry on low heat till golden brown, pour the seasoning over the masala dal. Stir and sprinkle with coriander leaves. Keep covered for a few minutes before serving.
